F.O.C.U.S Safe Passage
F.O.C.U.S. Safe Passage is a community-based student support and youth development program that supports the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of students traveling to and from school. Our Mission
“The mission of F.O.C.U.S. Safe Passage is to build trust, encourage positive behavior, and support students through positive adult presence and community support.“
Our History:
The F.O.C.U.S. Safe Passage Program was inspired by the need to better support students to and from school in parts of Long Beach in the early 2000s.
Around 2001, Franklin Middle School experienced concerns related to student well-being and challenges within the surrounding community that sometimes affected students on their way to and from campus.
Community leaders recognized the need for a positive, community-based approach to support students and strengthen relationships between youth and adults.
In response, F.O.C.U.S. Safe Passage was developed to bring together trained community volunteers who provide a calm, consistent, and supportive presence around school routes and campuses.
Through mentorship, relationship-building, and guidance, the program helped restore a sense of stability and trust within the school community.
